I had heard great things about the Washington Romance Writers conference over the years, and I finally managed to attend last week, and I had a fantastic time. The big highlight was being a question in romance jeopardy.
The category: WRW Firsts
The Question: This first timer had her heroine choose between “The Heir And The Spare” in her August, 2007 first release.
Answer: Who is ME?
It was the 500-dollar question, and it took even me a moment to figure it out. I sat there thinking “Hmm. That sounds like me. Oh wait!” So I raised my hand and said “Who is me?” and the judges said “who are you?” (I was in the back. And new in town). Fortunately, I had my nametag on to prove I was indeed the correct answer, and now I have the card as a souvenir.
Kathy Giles Seidel’s talk on the wit and wisdom of editor Jennifer Enderlin was my favorite presentation. Note to self: Always start the novel on the day everything changed. At an author roundtable, we discussed if blogging translated to sales (buy my book!).
Best of all was hanging out with my writing buddies, Ann and Jen (aka Julia Roberts), and new friends Victoria and Karen.
