Alix Rickloff Answers My Questions

I met debut author Alix at the Washington Romance Writers Conference this spring. We bonded over writing Regency set novels, but hers have a paranormal twist! Check out her answers to The Same Six Questions I Always Ask and then check out her first novel Lost In You.

1. If you could have any super power, what would it be?
The ability to clone myself. Need I say more?

2. Who is your favorite hero of fiction?

Frances Crawford from Dorothy Dunnett’s Lymond Chronicles. He is the ultimate 16th century bad-boy hero. A soldier, a scholar, and every woman’s darkest fantasy. I re-read the series every few years just to fall in love all over again.
3. What is one of your most romantic moments?
After 6 weeks apart, having my future husband quit his job, jump through hoops for an emergency passport, and put himself in major debt just to fly to London to be with me.
4. Of the places you’ve traveled to, which is your favorite?
Absolutely and without a doubt, Cornwall is my favorite place. My family is originally Cornish, so I even managed a visit to the old homestead.
5. What’s your most used curse word?
For sheer numbers, I have to say it’s probably “damn,” but I was once scolded by an 18-year-old soon to be member of the US Navy. After hearing me cut loose, he actually said, “And you eat with that mouth?”
6. Please take a moment of shameless self-promotion:
My debut Regency/Paranormal Lost In You is available now through Kensington Zebra. Romantic Times gave it 4 stars and called it a “compelling, original love story.” To read an excerpt, click here. The second book in the series, Until I Found You is slated to be a July 09 release and continues the story of the Bligh family and the sensual and dangerous world of the Other. Hi, Alix and Maya!

How many of us have bonded over a love of Regency set novels, either writing or reading them?

I loved the questions and loved your romantic moment, Alix.

Knowing you, I cannot imagine that your language would shock a Navy man. But I suggest you transition to “Fustian!” and “If that is not the outside of enough.” That should do it.

Alix, I think that is one of the most romantic “moments” I’ve heard!
