My dear readers, you may recall that some time ago I handed in the manuscript for my very latest, The Sinfully Seductive Rakish Rogue’s Mysterious Midnight Mistress of Pleasure (or something like that). My dear editor has sent it back with a (typed and thus legible!) list of comments. Back to work for me!
In the two months since I “finished” the novel, I haven’t taken even a tiny peek at it. Now, I’m becoming reacquainted my hero and heroine.
Miss Sophie Harlow reports on weddings for The London Weekly, the most popular newspaper in town. She’s a sassy girl. She’d have to be, since it’s so scandalous to write for a newspaper in 1822.
The Duke of Hamilton and Brandon (yes that’s right—a Double Duke! He’s that heroic) is getting married. To someone else. Maybe. At any rate, we call him Brandon because his title is far too long to type too often.
There are tiny things to revise, like making stronger chapter endings—the better to keep y’all up at night with. And then there are major manuscript surgeries, like taking part of chapter ten and turning that into chapter one. I’m working on that now, and thought I ought to take a break to write a blog about it (yup, that’s how well it’s going). I’m still amazed at how changing one thing results in a domino effect of changes throughout the book. It’s never as easy as cut and paste or correcting grammar.
I’m glad to be back in my Regency, newspaper-writing-girl world, with double dukes and maybe, just maybe, a prince or two! And deleted scenes are…coming soon!

Chapter 10 becomes chapter 1? Interesting!
I can’t wait for the new book Maya. I hope this one has lots of lovely fencing scenes!
Good luck with the revisions, Maya!
I only wish I’m at that stage with my paper. At this point, I’m just throwing it all on the page, and will edit and fix later. Fingers crossed that that will somehow produce an acceptable product that I can hand in!
I am also definitely intrigued by Sophie and Brandon. Can’t wait to read more about them.
Lisa, throwing it all on the page and editing/fixing later is my strategy too!
